CARSON, Rachel: Silent Spring
Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1962. 15 x 22 cm. 368pp. Illustrated throughout by Lois and Louis Darling
First edition, First printing.
This is a very good, used copy, of the classic book which defined ecological activism for future generations. Small dedication on verso of half-title page: "To Buckey, Christmas 1962. Love from all the Weales". Very tight, in publisher's original green cloth, spine and front cover lettered in gilt, and decorative green wavy-patterned end papers. Complete with a dust wrapper in good condition, with only two moderate size chips, one along the top of the front panel, the other at the crown of the spine, and minor edge wear. Not price clipped. No fading, very clean and fresh throughout. A rare first edition, first printing copy, of one of the most important books of the twentieth century.
"The most important environmental book of the 20th century." — Margaret Atwood
